In the preliminary task
None of us in our group had any experience with filming so jumping right into it was a little daunting for us. However, once we planned our script, we started filming. It did not take very long, but we had the opportunity to learn a few skills to help us in the future when filming. We were taught the three main skills we needed in order to film our preliminary task:
Shot reverse shot- where the character is shown looking at another character. The characters are shown facing opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.
Match on action- you can see, the perspective changes while the scene still flows without any disruption.
180 rotation shot- This is when the camera is on the actor's side and staying within the 180 degree line when doing the shot-reverse-shot. In the preliminary, I was acting the teacher role while at the same time I was learning what the other of my team mates had to do so I get a better idea of what each task of filming consisted of. All of us in the team helped in the editing process of the task it was a little hard at the beginning using Final Cut Pro but once we tried out different techniques and just experimented, we got the hang of it a little bit better. The editing process is used to help our clip flow as smooth as possible, and fading into new scenes. However there is one obvious jump cut from when Ashley, acting as the student, walks into the room and as he is about to sit down, there is a quick jump cut to when he begins to talk which I think needs improving on to make it better.
